Opened in 1994, Kansai International Airport is one of the leading airports in Japan offering both international and domestic flights. It is referred to by the abbreviation KIX. Seated as the gateway to Japan’s western region, this 24-hour, international airport offers a network of all-day access to domestic and worldwide destinations. The airport debuted in 1994 as the world’s first ever airport to be built on a completely man-made island. Today you can access the airport by train, bus, taxi, car/rental car, as well as high-speed boat. The must-visit Sky Deck offers panoramic, 360-degree views of the surrounding area, as well as impressive, up-close views of aircraft taking off and landing. The airport is illuminated at night with jewel-like lights for a romantic setting. It is also home to one of Japan’s largest airline merchandise shops, and lots of other fun!
