The festival is to ease the soul of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate known as Tosho-daigongen. It features a dancing parade through Wakanoura, which is famous for its scenic beauty, and Mikoshi-oroshi, which is the carrying of a portable shrine down the long slope.
