Toki no Kura

Toki no Kura

Izakaya Toki no Kura is located near the Megane (eye glass) Museum in Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture, famous for the largest eye glass production in the nation. Toki no Kura’s fine cuisine was awarded Bib Gourmand by Michelin. This wonderful dining spot attracts fans from all regions.

The name derives from the prominent Fukui’s special sake, Bon-Tokishirazu. You can taste their delicious dishes at the counter or settle in a private room with a very tranquil and relaxed atmosphere.

The restaurant’s impressive interior is designed after a traditional Japanese storehouse, kura. The menu consists of a wide variety of seasonal seafood, e.g., nodoguro (seaperch) and sasakarei (flounder) caught off the coast of the Sea of Japan. Also served is fresh fish from the Echizen Coast, Fukui Prefecture's proudest fishing grounds. Their menu also incorporates many delicacies from local farms and the surrounding nature, insuring the freshest seasonal produce comes directly from the Echizen region; on offer well is the very special Wakasa beef.
