Yakuno-ki-to-urushi-no-yakata (Yakuno Woodware and Lacquerware Facility)

[We have the great privilege of offering you this lacquerware product.]
Yakuno Town in Fukuchiyama City produces high-quality lacquer called "Tamba Urushi (lacquer)", with a history stretching back 1,300 years. The technique of extracting lacquer from the lacquer tree, called "Tamba lacquer tree extract" was designated by Kyoto Prefecture as an intangible folk culture asset in 1991, and the production site was also designated as a local cultural property by the Agency for Cultural Affairs in March 2009. We devote ourselves to manufacturing fine products using natural lacquer, in order to support traditional domestic lacquer production, which has seen a decline in recent times. Please enjoy using our products on a daily basis so that you can know the good qualities of lacquerware. We can also re-apply lacquer to your lacquerware product upon request.
