Shamenchi Odori

Eight boys march to Akimoto Jinja shrine carrying a lantern above their heads. The lantern is made of red paper and is detailed with openwork. In the Edo Period, the people in Yase founded Akimoto Jinja shrine to commemorate a favor bestowed upon them by Akimoto Tajimanokami, who protected the privilege of Yase villagers.
