The most important of the 1,500 annual shrine festivals
This is the most important festival of the year, in which the first harvest of the year is first offered to Amaterasu Omikami to give thanks for its blessings. On the 15th, at the Outer Shrine, and on the 16th, at the Inner Shrine, Yuki no Omike, offering offerings to the gods, was held at 10:00 pm and 2:00 am. Hohei is performed, in which chokushi dedicate the heihaku.
In addition, prior to the Kannamesai, Ise citizens in matching happi coats bravely carry the firstfruits to the two shrines during the Hatsuhobiki, which fills the city with excitement.
