Gichu-ji Temple

This temple is a national historical site that is home to the graves of two important figures. One is Kiso no Yoshinaka (better known as Minamoto no Yoshinaka), a commander in the Genpei War, a national civil war that occurred in the 12th century. The other grave belongs to renowned haiku poet and traveler Matsuo Basho.
