1 Feb 2022

"Kamenose" is located on the border between Nara and Osaka, and is a valley area that collects water from the Nara Basin. This is a dangerous spot where landslides have repeatedly occurred for the last 40,000 years, but it is also the heart of the area that has supported transportation, economy, and flood control since ancient times as the western gateway to the capital. "Tatsuta Kodo", which was developed by the ancient manyo people, who composed poetry about this area as well as took part in the traffic of cultural artifacts, is always faced with the threat of landslides. From ancient times to the present, people have brought together the latest technology of the time to protect this important area, and the god of winds of Tatsuta has always been there with its history.
Let's walk along this old road while feeling the wind of Tatsuta. When you look into the railway tunnel buried in the earth and sands, you can touch the technology of civil engineering that will support lives of people in future, and when you cross over the Kamenose, you can see the spirit of the Japanese people who live closely alongside with wonders of nature.
