[Incense making experience] Around 70% of Japan's incense is made here! In a town known for aromas since the Edo period, learn from a scent meister about the history and the basics of fragrances. After learning everything you need to know, you will get to choose a fragrance and shape to make your own original incense stick
Visit the factory where incense is still hand-made using traditional methods, learn from a master (called a Koushi) about fragrance, production methods and the history of incense on Awaji Island, then make your own original incense stick. It will make a perfect souvenir of your trip, too!

- Watch the process of incense being produced by traditional techniques at Awaji Baikundou Ei Factory (30 minutes); Learn about fragrance and the history of incense from a Koushi (master) and experience making incense sticks (80 minutes)

- There is parking for around 10 vehicles (large buses can be accommodated) across the road from Awaji Baikundou Ei Factory on the right side (over the Awaji Sunset Line). Only one car can be parked on the left side of the factory (on a slope).
