Osaka City Museum of Fine Arts will open on Saturday, March 1, 2025, after undergoing major renovations for around 2 years and 5 months. Since opening in May 1936 as the 3rd public art museum in Japan, the museum has been gifted with many donations and entrustments from our predecessors who were active in Osaka. It has a collection of around 13,500 works, including important cultural properties.
The main building, where Japanese and Western design elements blend together, is a valuable example of a large-scale museum constructed before the war.
