Tamba Sasayama Dekansho Festival
A bon-odori dance festival that gaily colors the midsummer nights of Tamba Sasayama
The Dekansho Festival is famous throughout Japan as the country’s leading folk song festival. The yagura group dance is performed around a prominent wooden yagura tower in time with dekansho-bushi melodies, and teams have come from far away to take part in the dancing. What’s more, fireworks bloom in ever expanding rings, illuminating the midsummer night skies over Tamba Sasayama with exciting displays.
