Dried Squid & Fish Preparation
< Dried Squid Preparation >
In this activity, you'll dry some of the fine squid caught in Tottori. You'll apply the local technique in the Tajiri district where the squid is dried in the open air on bamboo blinds. This is a rare method for drying squid in Japan. Local women will be happy to instruct you in this activity. In the morning you cut the squid, then retrieve your dried treats in the evening, which you can take back with you, or have delivered. (Separate packing and shipping fees apply for delivery.) A great way to pass the time while the squid is drying is to take a walk along the nearby Shirawara coastline or the Kamagaiso Rocky Shore. When you come back, it's time to dine on some fine dried squid! Limited to groups of 10 to 40 people. (Groups only. No individual bookings.)
< Dried Fish Preparation >
In this activity for drying seasonal fish caught in the local waters, you'll also learn a simple way to cut a fish. You'll cut the fish in the morning and leave them to dry, then pick them up on the afternoon of the following day to take back with you. You can also have your fish delivered. (Separate packing and shipping fees apply for delivery.) Limited to groups of 10 to 40 people. (Groups only. No individual bookings.)
