Nose Puppet Theater Rokkakuza

The Nose Joruri has a history of 200 years and to foster and protect this traditional art as a valuable part of our regional heritage, in 1998, the dolls and musical accompaniments were added to make it more visually appealing. This is how the “Nose Jingyo Joruri (Nose Puppet Theater)” first started.

The dolls are dressed in various clothing and show a variety of expressions. As well, we are always thriving for originality and have been creating unique stories, such as ones involving an alien. Every year in June, we hold our regular performances, such as the “Nose Ningyo Joruri Rokkakuza,” along with other performances such as the “Joruri no Sato: Nose Joruri performances.” Furthermore, every year, we perform over 30 times upon request and to train future successors, we began the “Joruri for Children.”
