The KANSAI Guide

Ninja is now well known in Japan and overseas by TV programs and animations, and people are attracted by their unique actions. However, not many people know about the real ninja even if its name is very popular. Iga and Koka have been recognized as birth places and representative areas of Ninja.
They are a group of warriors who built many castles by making use of complex terrain, governed their own territories with mutual cooperation and saved regional peace. Ninjutsu (art of warfare used by Ninja) of Iga and Koka styles have been nurtured in rich religious culture and varieties of life styles.
If you visit the footprints and remains in the home of Shinobi (Ninja), you may find the real scope of Ninja. In Iga and Koka, the tradition of Ninja, who ran through the warring period, still lives to this day.
