The Okabe Clan were lords of Kishiwada Castle during the Edo period. The original castle tower was destroyed by lightning and the current structure was rebuilt in 1954, so 2024 marks the 70th anniversary of its reconstruction. Hachijin Garden, designed by landscape architect Mirei Shigemori, has been designated as a site of National Scenic Beauty. The view from the third floor of the castle tower is not to be missed.
