This festival commemorates and honors the great achievements of Lord Kusunoki Masashige and his family, who perished in the Battle of Minatogawa on May 25, 1336 (Engen 1).
The main festival is held on May 25th, with eve and day-after ceremonies taking place before and after. Various offerings and celebratory events take place, making for a lively three-day festival.
