Mt. Tsurugi

Mt. Tsurugi

Located in the west of Tokushima Prefecture, Mt. Tsurugi counts itself among the One Hundred Mountains of Japan, and is the second highest in West Japan with an elevation of 1,955 meters. Despite its lofty peak, from the end of April to the end of November, visitors can enjoy a carefree ride aboard the Mt. Tsurugi Chairlift from Minokoshi Station (1,420 m) to Nishijima Station (1,750 m) near the top. There are four hiking courses from Nishijima Station to match the hiker’s level of fitness and ability. There are also mountaintop trekking routes that lead to Mt. Miune, Ichinomori, and Mt. Jirogyu so that avid hikers can conquer the three peaks! For beginners, perhaps the best route to the top is the Otsurugi-jinja course, which takes about an hour.
