Minakuchi Castle Museum

[The apperance of the museum is a beautiful castle modeled after Kyoto's Nijo Castle]
When Iemitsu Tokugawa, the third Tycoon, went up to Kyoto, he ordered to build a lodging house here, and it was built in 1634. This is the origin of Minakuchi Castle. The museum opened in 1991 to display materials related to Kato Family who governed the district, Koka and Gamo in 1682, till the Meiji era of the late 19th century. There is also a model of Minakuchi Castle. The building of the museum is designed to look like the castle's corner tower.

4 minutes walk from Minakuchi Jonan Station (Omi Railway Line). The Omi Railway Line starts at Kibukawa Station (kusatsu Line). The Kusatsu Line starts at JR Kusatsu Station (JR Biwako Line from Kyoto Station)
