A museum where you can see one of the world's largest Mucha collections
A world-leading museum dedicated to the work of Alphonse Mucha (1860-1939), an artist of the Art Nouveau movement which flourished from the late 19th to early 20th century. The collection includes around 500 works spanning the whole of Mucha's career. As well as the posters he was famous for, the museum showcases Mucha's broad-ranging work, including unique oil paintings and sketches, illustrations, and jewelry. The collection focuses in particular on works that Mucha created for the 1900 Paris Exposition, such as sketches for the pavilion murals and the illuminated sculpture La Nature. Rather than a permanent exhibition, temporary exhibitions are held three times a year to introduce different aspects and themes of Mucha's art. Featuring hands-on exhibits, digital content, and photo spots, the museum offers an enjoyable interactive experience and boasts visitor satisfaction ratings of almost 100%. The museum is directly linked to JR Sakaishi station via a walkway, making it very convenient to visit.
