National Museum of Art, Osaka

This art museum, in Nakanoshima in the very heart of Osaka City, has a collection that centers on modern art from 1945 onwards, from both Japan and overseas. Located right next to the Osaka Science Museum, the main part of the museum is completely underground. On the first basement floor of this unique structure is the entrance, lecture hall, restaurant, and museum shop, and on the second and third basement floors are the exhibition rooms. The facility was designed by César Pelli.
